police brutality is difficult to reckon with. at a time when we are faced with what feels like unending spectacles of black death at the hands of law enforcement, it can feel almost impossible to figure out what exactly you can do. 

so start small, and in your own community. check out Campaign Zero for details about the laws on policing that are currently in place in your city. do they require officers to deescalate situations? are police officers allowed to choke and strangle civilians?

if you don’t like what you see, start reaching out to your city council and your mayor and demand that they make police reform a priority. if they don’t make accountability a priority, then vote them out of the office, replacing them with someone who will. you have that power. use it.
