There are so many things that are harmless to ignore, like your alarm clock in the morning, or the box that pops up to ask  you if you’re still watching Netflix during a binge. Ignoring rape culture can be just as easy to do, but the consequences can be much bigger than just being 15 minutes late. That’s why we’ve been spreading these fake ads far and wide; we want to challenge our ideas of what it’s acceptable to ignore.

We know that pointing out rape culture can be difficult. We’re all complicit in our own ways, and it’s on us to point out what exactly rape culture is and stop it where we see it.

Rape culture is protecting student-athletes over victims. Rape culture is one in five women experiencing unwanted sexual contact during college. Rape culture is telling a woman that her outfit is to blame for her sexual assault. Rape culture is not believing sexual assault survivors when they speak up. Rape culture is allowing “she was asking for it” to work as an excuse. Rape culture is not stepping in when we see someone in danger. Rape culture is claiming that survivors only want fame.
